Areas Of Focus

We are a health Care Micro-Savings Platform with ability for Daily Medical Collection account for Low Income Earners using USSD or Banks in Uganda.

MEDI-FI, Is A health care Micro-Savings platforms that leverages existing platforms like mobile money and Banking Sector to extend Health Savings and micro loans and credit services to low-income earners in Uganda as a mode of insurance to the under served as well as smaller and medium size enterprises.

We are tackling the problem of inadequate funds or money for antenatal care (ANC) for low-income families, most families are estimated to 2% of the total population in Uganda do not have access to health insurance and this leads to high out of pocket solutions or options to solve the problem, so our solution is to tackle and reduce the high out of pocket expenditure by introducing a way whereby communities are able to save and be able to manage their medical bills at there different health facilities wherever, they are.

Noting that a majority of Ugandans are not insured (Only 2%) 98% are not and if insured there is mistrust to losing the hard earned funds to insurance companies, our program gives power to people to accumulate funds to even the next financial year, we do this through the existing mobile money and Banking infrastructures in the country in order to put out the Bias and handle the problem of out-of-pocket expenditure to low income earners with a additional credit line to especially Shop Vendors, Boda Boda Riders, Tomato Sellers and peasant farmers to mention but a few.

We do this to ensure that the target groups are able to save funds in an accumulative manner and they can actually be able to withdraw it at different health care facilities country wide irrespective of the amount Saved, we believe this will help and ease individual access to doctors, buy required drugs, and or pay admission fees and other medical attention. we are looking at extending financial security and ready cash for Health Care including convenience and flexibility.

As we extend affordability for health services and facilities, for the insured we also extending convenience in that they do not have to actually take micro loans elsewhere as they wait for the insurance cover, they can be able to cover basic bills including transportation to health facilities which may not be covered by the insurance companies. We also extend a small micro loan to the beneficiaries depending on how much they have saved to solve immediate or additional financial burden especially if what was saved covered only medical bills.

In Uganda Alone we are looking at exploring over 20 million mobile phone users or subscribers who are also attached to small scale businesses who are either formal or informal. We are also looking at partnering with over 6500 health facilities. We hope to scale the usage further to people with ordinary phones as well as smart phones in near future by offering use of USSD, android and iOS users to access the service, chatbots and tele services as well as social media platforms. We are building web system to support those online as well. We hope this package helps everyone to tackle your Health Care financial Problems.

For the time being our Medi-Fi will only be accessible through Post bank’s Wendi platform.

Wendi is an electronic payments platform powered by PostBank that strategically pivots on group savings and funds management, digital money savings, transfers, deposits, and withdrawals, to drive financial inclusion within unbanked Ugandan communities.
